7 Days: 7 Mistakes Robbing you of Hours of your Time: Mistake Number 5

In yesterday’s post I wrote about Time Management Mistake Number 4 – You Compare Yourself to Others. Was there ever a greater waste of your time?

Mistake Number 5 is also a time management killer – You were told you could ‘Have It All’, so what happened?

We are brought up to believe we can ‘have it all’ – our parents tell us this, our educators, the media and our networks. So, what happened?

Sorry, but you can’t have it all. Or at least, you can’t have it all at the same time. Because one things is for sure, if you spend your time chasing it all, you will have so many balls in the air that the juggle will be impossible to sustain. What’s more, you won’t enjoy any of it.

You don’t need to have it all. You don’t need to do it all. Rather, focus on what is most important to you – and that is what you should chase. Stop chasing the rest – it’s just a distraction and a big waste of time. The clearer you are on your values and your goals, the easier it will be to say no, to focus on what is important, and you will be amazed that you have the time to dedicate to what’s on target.
